Transforming Strangers Into Neighbors
Intercambio events are attended by 5,000 people annually and achieve three important goals:
- Enable students to practice English and cultural skills in a safe environment
- Promote and sustain the connections that immigrants make through our program, and
- Connect the wider community to our students
Students, volunteers, community members and their families from all over the world have a great opportunity to interact and learn about other cultures when they come to our events. Whether we’re hiking, camping, or dancing, Intercambio pulls the Boulder County community together.
Intercambio’s signature event and Annual “Friend-raiser”. It is Boulder’s largest multi-cultural social event that welcomes 1,300 people for a fun night of live music, dancing, entertainment, international cuisine, and fun!
This annual fall event showcases Boulder’s talented and vibrantly diverse cultural atmosphere. Join the planning committee and help us make La Fiesta bigger and better.
Quarterly the “Conversation Team” of community volunteers visits group classes to practice English with Intercambio students. This speed-dating-like experience pairs native speakers with English students to for 10-minute conversations before switching to a new partner. Students have an opportunity to practice English in a safe environment with native speakers, while volunteers get to connect with Intercambio students.
