Planning a lesson
Determine What you want to teach and How you want to teach it. Use the PPP Format which has 3 stages: Presentation, Practice, and Production.
PRESENTATION: Incorporate interactive activities where the teacher introduces the lesson and the topic of the lesson. Teacher explains the topic during this phase.
PRACTICE: The teacher guides students through controlled pieces of language and the students try out the model/become familiar with the learned portion.
PRODUCTION: This stage is for teacher-facilitated, but student-generated interaction. Activities may include oral practice, question/answer activities, reading, and information gap activity.
- Add space for observations of students producing the language
- Take notes of problems
- During the lesson, observe what works or doesn’t work in your classroom.
