Nearly 150 Attendees Connect at Intercambio’s Summer Conference

Intercambio hosted its second annual Summer Conference in August. This year, nearly 150 attendees from more than 16 states and 33 organizations providing English classes for adults participated virtually in workshops led by volunteer teachers and program administrators from several organizations, including Intercambio’s own staff.

Beyond a series of interactive workshops, the conference aims to connect individuals from a diverse array of programs, offering multiple opportunities to engage with others one-on-one and in small groups. Presenters from a variety of backgrounds facilitated eleven workshops on topics such as communicating in simple English, reading techniques to increase comprehension, and strategies for success within the citizenship process.

Participants walked away from each presentation feeling encouraged and full of actionable tips to improve their teaching and programming. To facilitate ongoing conversations and motivate participants to implement new learnings, attendees set goals with an “accountability buddy” in the event’s closing session.

With overwhelmingly positive feedback, the Conference Committee is excited to begin planning for the third annual conference in August 2023!
