Many immigrants come to the U.S. and make tremendous sacrifices in order to provide better educational opportunities for their children. They want to participate in the schools, but language is often a barrier. For that reason, we are developing a curriculum to specifically teach English that can be used to communicate with teachers and other school faculty. Topics will include school calendars, writing and reading notes, roles of parents, conferences, volunteerism, the grading system and more.
This curriculum will be used locally and nationally, so thousands of immigrant parents will feel more confident and better able to communicate with their children’s schools. We’re putting the final touches on the curriculum and are excited to share the final product with you in the next couple months!
