Jenny Desmond is our new Director of Development, leading the fundraising and marketing team at Intercambio. She is bilingual in Spanish and has a Master of Arts in Leadership for Nonprofits. She is a genuine master at motivating and inspiring others to join and support Intercambio’s mission in different capacities.  Jenny says, “I’ve been involved in many nonprofits and Intercambio is a special place.  I love connecting people to Intercambio, planning strategy and seeing transformations happen in families, due in part to the behind the scenes work that we do!”

Gina Garcia is the new East County Program Manager. Before that, Gina was the Longmont and Lafayette Program Coordinator. She is the daughter of immigrants and an alumni scholar of the I Have a Dream Foundation. Her focus now is to support students taking classes and to create a community where students can connect with others and feel part of the community. “There is a lot of potential to grow our East County program and to create greater community here”, says Gina.

Geoffrey Miller is the new Boulder and East County Program Coordinator. He will be supporting our learners in east Boulder County and coordinating group sites in Boulder. Geoffrey is new to Intercambio, having recently worked with an ESL program in Portland, OR. “I’m excited to get involved with the entire Intercambio community, and support our vision of uniting the diverse people of our community”, says Geoffrey.

Alma Chavez, originally from Mexico, is the new Longmont Program Coordinator. Alma will support our adult English learners, especially those taking group classes. Alma started as an Intercambio student in 2014, and then became an intern. Most recently, Alma worked at the YMCA and in the financial field while participating in community activities. “I’m proud to be part of the Intercambio family. I love meeting people from different places and cultures. Intercambio has students, teachers and staff with great cultural diversity”, says Alma.

David Olivares, originally from Mexico, is the new Graphic Design Assistant. He will be helping to design Intercambio curriculum that is used by hundreds of organizations nationwide.  He is also a student at Front Range Community College and is the VP of the Latino club there. Prior to Intercambio David worked in the food industry. “I’m excited to use my talents here, to learn new things, and to grow with a fast-growing organization.”

Joyce Neville worked as a technology and financial consultant for law firms for 25 years before retiring. Joyce has served on the Board of the Colorado Women’s Education Foundation, and is currently a volunteer teacher for Intercambio.
