Breaking Ground

After spending his career focusing on language development and speech-language pathology, Philip Prinz wanted to stay connected to his passion for language in retirement. He became one of the first volunteers for CC English, a new Intercambio program that equips students and volunteers around the nation to learn together virtually while embracing The Intercambio Way®.

CC English takes the best parts of Intercambio, and puts it online in a high-quality, accessible, teaching and learning platform that’s supported by our Confidence and Connections curriculum. The ultimate goal is to make our relationship-based English classes accessible to anyone, anywhere in the nation. The CC English pilot project was a testing ground for participants to provide valuable feedback in shaping the program and platform.

With Philip in California and Jorge, a native of Chile, in Nebraska, the pair had to figure out more than just a difference in time zones. As some of the first participants in the CC English pilot, Philip and Jorge learned to navigate an entirely online class experience. “The challenges are even greater being online, but Intercambio provides the support. You are not left to flounder,” Philip says.

CC English launched to the public in July, and our student waitlist keeps growing. Would you join us as a volunteer?
