Stability in the Midst of Change

I have been at Intercambio since 2010 and never thought I’d be challenged to be the bridge amid leadership changes. We are in such a season, and being the bridge has become my mantra as we look ahead to innovation and opportunities we never imagined.

There is a high demand for our resources around the country. We have the potential to engage people everywhere and replicate the life-changing learning and connections we’ve seen here in Boulder County for the last 21 years. To realize this vision and to increase the resiliency and financial sustainability of the organization, we are making a leadership shift.

Lee Shainis, Intercambio’s co-founder and Executive Director (ED) has decided to leave his current role as ED and instead focus on our national program impact. He is capitalizing on his strengths of creation, thought leadership, and networking for change in order to accelerate the adoption of our model nationally and increase financial sustainability.

In November, the board recruited me to move from Director of Development to be the Interim Executive Director, starting when Lee went on a two-month sabbatical. I have experience working in both the programs and development departments at Intercambio, and it has been great to dive deep with the leadership team to maintain our momentum.

I am overwhelmed with gratitude to Lee for what he has built and the thousands of lives that have been changed through Intercambio, including my own. It is going to be powerful to have him focused on national projects while I prepare the organization for abundant growth and the new road on the other side of the leadership bridge.

Thank you for joining us on the journey,

Jenny
