Find the words exercise:
Select 3 to 10 important words from a story. Read the list of words to the class once – without writing them down – and ask them to find and circle the words as they read the story to themselves. You can do this with any level of student – choose the length of story accordingly. A beginning level student may just read a short paragraph and be looking for only 3 words. More advances students should be able to do this exercise with just one reading. Beginning-level students may need more time and may need to have the words read multiple times for this activity.
