Norma oversees all of our classes for students and volunteer teachers in and around the Boulder County area. Her job is to ensure that students are evaluated, assessed, and receive the best English classes possible; and that volunteers receive the best support possible to become amazing teachers! She first became involved with Intercambio as a volunteer in 2006 and then started classes with us in 2007. She joined our staff in 2008. Norma is originally from Chihuahua, Mexico and has lived in the United States for many years. She brings an incredible amount of community experience to Intercambio, having worked with Head Start and the Family Literacy Program. Her passion, dedication, and positive attitude contribute every day in helping, connecting, and teaching our community.
Norma is a well-known community leader and has been the recipient of several awards, including:
- Women Who Light the Community, presented by the Boulder Chamber (2020)
- The Community Service Award, presented by the Twenty-Eighth Annual Multicultural Awards (2016)
- The Community Unity Award, presented by the Longmont City Council (2011)
